Cookie Policy — Listen Trees

The short version

Our website sets no cookies of its own. No analytics, no advertising, and no tracking scripts.
The Listen Trees app doesn’t use cookies. It keeps your sign-in in your phone’s secure storage and uses an anonymous ID for analytics.
Some pages show content from other services (fonts and book covers), and some links take you to other sites, which have their own cookie practices.
Because we don’t use non-essential cookies, we don’t show a cookie banner.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. “Similar technologies” include things like local storage in a browser or an identifier saved on your device by an app. This policy covers both, for our website (listentrees.com) and the Listen Trees app. For how we handle personal information generally, see our Privacy Notice.

Our website

listentrees.com is a simple website hosted by Netlify. We do not set any cookies, and we don’t use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools on it. Netlify keeps basic server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operations, as described in our Privacy Notice — this doesn’t involve cookies.

Content loaded from other services

To display some pages, your browser loads content directly from these services. When it does, they receive your IP address and basic browser information, and they may apply their own cookie practices:

Links to other sites

Some links take you to other websites, which set their own cookies once you’re there:

Bookshop.org — our book links are affiliate links. If you buy through them, Bookshop.org uses its own cookies to credit Listen Trees with a small commission, which supports independent bookstores and helps keep Listen Trees running. It doesn’t change your price.
Google Forms — our early-access sign-up form.
Goodreads and StoryGraph — linked from our import page so you can export your reading history.

The Listen Trees app

The app doesn’t use browser cookies. It stores a small amount of information on your device:

Your sign-in session — kept in your phone’s secure storage so you stay signed in. Signing out or deleting your account removes it.
An anonymous analytics ID — PostHog stores an identifier on your device so we can understand how the app is used and receive crash reports. It is not used for advertising, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.

Signing in: when you sign in, you use a sign-in page provided by WorkOS. WorkOS uses strictly necessary cookies on its own sign-in pages to keep the sign-in secure.

Your choices

Your browser: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Our website works normally without them; blocking third-party content may stop some fonts or book covers from showing.
The app: signing out clears your session from your device, and Profile & Settings → Delete my account removes your account and data. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your device.

Changes to this policy

If we ever add cookies or similar technologies — for example, analytics on our website — we’ll update this policy first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it. The effective date at the top always shows the current version.
