Listen Trees didn't start as an app.
It started around a table in 2025 with a small audiobook club.
As we talked about the books we'd finished, something kept happening. We'd say things like…
The narrator absolutely made that book.”
I'd listen to anything that narrator reads.”
I loved the story… but not the narration.”
The more we talked, the more we realized that audiobooks are different from traditional books. The narrator isn't just reading the story—they're performing it. Yet every app and website treated narrators like an afterthought.
We wanted a place where books and narrators could each shine.
So I did what many book lovers do when they can't find the perfect tool…
I opened a spreadsheet.
The first Listen Trees database was a spreadsheet. 🌱
That spreadsheet quickly became a list of favorite narrators, books we wanted to remember, recommendations from friends, and ideas for features we wished existed. Then I started searching.
Surely someone had already built this.
I looked everywhere. Nothing quite fit what audiobook lovers were looking for.
So I decided to build it myself.
I had never planned on creating an app, but Listen Trees slowly grew from an idea into sketches, spreadsheets, late-night brainstorming sessions, and eventually thousands of hours of learning, designing, testing, and building.
Today, Listen Trees is still growing, but its mission hasn't changed: to create a place designed specifically for audiobook lovers—where incredible stories and incredible narrators are celebrated together.
